Per l’ottantesimo anniversario dalla sua fondazione, la Directors Guild of America, associazione di registi cinematografici e televisivi statunitensi, ha stilato la classifica degli 80 film diretti meglio dal 1936, data ufficiale di nascita della fondazione, a oggi.
Ha votato il 13,7% dei membri, poco più di duemila persone. All’interno di questa lista ci sono alcuni grandi classici e spiccano registi come Francis Ford Coppola presente con tre film, Stanley Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Sergio Leone, Ridley Scott, Martin Scorsese Giuseppe Tornatore e Victor Fleming. Spazio ai grandi classici, come Il Laureato, E.T. – L’extraterrestre, e Pulp Fiction.
